Last night, we started our 4th tranche of Make A Change workshops at The Cedars Surgery in Maidenhead.
As an ambassador for the Public Health Collaboration, I have been co-hosting these Wednesday evening courses (8 weeks) since 10th May 2022, alongside my partner in crime, Helen Ritchie and have seen over 100 pre and T2 patients engage with our interactive and educational lifechanging sessions.
The latest group of about 30 surprisingly were very enthusiastic and interactive on their first session with each other (bearing in mind they didn't know each other), which is a great way to start the open discussions about lifestyle change.
This week, we covered:
- Introduction to the course
- Mine and Helen's own health transformation journeys
- Sugar & how it affects you
- Introduction to a real food lifestyle for better health
- Making healthy choices at breakfast
We were also delighted to be joined by Alan, one of our previous attendees, who shared his feedback and testimony of how the course changed his life in 8 weeks and then beyond:
✅ Lost 22lbs, 10kg
✅ Blood pressure normal 137/90 to 120/80
✅ Cholesterol, LDL and HDL levels are all in normal range now
✅ Surprised by reduced inflammation in fingers and toes
✅ Stopped needing to take ibuprofen
✅ Able to play guitar and bass again without pain
✅ Able to cycle again, as previously wrists and fingers were too painful
✅ The change in diet has not been hard as I’ve never felt starved
✅ Unsweetened foods are now tasting sweet!
The fact that he's returned to two passions that he had given up because of pain is fantastic, alongside the other health benefits. In fact, he is so evangelistic about the change that he too wants to become an Ambassador for the charity!
